Every year we offer a stand-alone 3 week course during November for Grade 10s and 12s who have finished their exams, and have a lot of extra time to fill.
The purpose of the November School is to develop skills which have life-long use, not simply for exam taking. We find that learners are focusing on pure academics and not developing the range of skills they need for life, and for the 21st Century.
November School includes the following areas;
Basic literacies: Basics of language literacy, mathematical literacy and financial literacy, emotional literacy
General knowledge: Building an understanding of the world we live in, and how syllabus material in a variety of subjects relates to this – thus improving the understanding of syllabus material as well as stimulating interest in deeper and wider thinking about issues
Academic skills: Developing research and reporting (verbal and written) skills
Practical work: Use of science equipment, practical map use, methods used for designing experiments and analysing results
November School costs N$2500 for the three weeks.
